It is back to school time! My son Ben just started kindergarten. I drove him to his first day of school. He looked so little with his giant backpack on, but he jumped right out at the curb and waved goodbye to me. His sister pointed him in the right direction, and he went off to class all by himself. He is my first kid that was born in Yuma, and I cannot believe how grown up that little guy is.
Something I have always struggled with is appreciating the “now.” It is too easy to get wrapped up in the stressfulness of the day-to-day, and not take the time to be grateful. The kids are a perfect example. Sometimes with 6 crazy little kids running around, breaking things and causing havoc, it is really hard to appreciate this stage of life. I feel like they can’t grow up fast enough. But when I saw Bennie skipping off to school all by himself, all grown up, not NEEDING his dad to hold his hand and help him get settled, I felt a brief pang of panic. Another milestone in his life has passed. He’s growing up too fast.
The real estate market here in Yuma is a similar story. The average sales price has gone up from about $119,000 in 2012 to about $130,000 so far year-to-date. We are also going on 3 years straight of selling significantly more homes than during the last real estate boom (2006 and 2007). Homes are selling and prices are going up. Interest rates have also started going up. Even so, “Housing Affordability” is still at all-time highs. Now is a great time to be a homeowner.
Have a great day. If I can do anything for you, don’t hesitate to call.
